Sizzling Pork

One of the most worst political betrayals of recent times was the stab in the back by Congressman Chris Carney who lied to progressives, took grassroots money and then immediately turned into a wingnut Blue Dog. There are never any guarantees about stuff like that, so it’s always a possibility. Luckily, most people, even politicians, have at least some sense of shame, so it doesn’t happen this blatantly as often as one might think.
His voting record alone guaranteds that he would never get another penny from me and, I would guess, any other progressive. But if any of you have even the slightest inclination to support him, this ought to finally convince you:

Dear Friend,
Good afternoon and Happy New Year. Yesterday I joined Muncy Police Chief Dick Sutton and many other area law enforcement officials and representatives in unveiling 106 new Tasers for Lycoming County police officers through the Lycoming County Law Enforcement Association. The purchase, made through a $100,000 federal grant I secured last year, will enable every police officer on duty in the county to carry a Taser.
All 17 police departments in Lycoming County have received Tasers, and the grant also provided for the purchase of 645 air cartridges. The model X26 Tasers have a range of 21 feet, have an electric bolt that can be used for five seconds continuously, and are powered by a lithium battery with a monitor that allows officers to know how much life is left before a new power source is needed.
These Tasers will give our law enforcement officers another important tool as they work to keep our community safe. They are a non-lethal but effective measure in thwarting criminals that protect not only the life of law enforcement personnel, but also suspects. As a former first responder, I have the utmost respect for the job that our officers do and I am proud to fight for the resources that will help them carry out their duties.
Our local firefighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel are our first line of defense in an emergency. They must have the best training and equipment to manage crises and effectively keep us secure, which is why I have continued to work in Congress to ensure our local communities have the funding and resources they need to perform their jobs. When we can protect public safety using taxpayer dollars, we’ll do that every time…
As Congress moves into a new year, I will continue to work to ensure the communities in northeastern and central Pennsylvania have the necessary tools to keep our residents safe. As always, please do not hesitate to contact my Clarks Summit office toll-free at 866-846-8124, with any comments or concerns. Thank you, and have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,Christopher P. Carney
Member of Congress
I’m sure he’d be bringing home the torture bacon if he can get a piece of that too.
