A loon lands at the UN
by digby
Is it appropriate for the president’s son who is in charge of his ongoing International businesses to be sitting with the WH delegation at the UN? |
Fox’s immediate analysis on Trump’s speech: “I think this was his best speech ever. Look at the body language, he was confident, he was reading slowly, he didn’t repeat himself a bunch of times which he has always done in the past.” pic.twitter.com/VkwRBqouJq— Lis Power (@LisPower1) September 24, 2019
Here are some highlights:
We are, by far, the world’s most powerful nation.Hopefully, the United States will never have to use this power. #UNGA pic.twitter.com/mmazQgaDWs

that was a profoundly bizarre performance but I can already see that cable news is covering it as though it was a normal speech pic.twitter.com/siI9nIecPP— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) September 24, 2019

"extradoodicial" — some high-risk reading from Trump here. He didn't quite stick the landing. pic.twitter.com/qfuLJ0u0Yz— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) September 24, 2019
uh oh. Trump is starting to have mouth issues pic.twitter.com/Rnw1YwtKPH— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) September 24, 2019
Those were actually his best moments. He’s been acting like a lunatic those whole time. One example:
Imagine how many other authoritarians at UNGA will see Trump saying his political opponent should be executed. America used to stand for something. https://t.co/u6xkGRjCOu— Ben Rhodes (@brhodes) September 24, 2019
He’s rattled, it’s obvious. And he should be. As I write this, the number of Democrats for impeachment procedures has gone up to 167. That’s 29 who have joined the call in the last 24 hours.
I guess that the prospect of the president blatantly trying to steal the election in almost exactly the way he tried to steal it in 2016 may have been a bit much.
