Keep in mind that he’s doing this just days after Russia violated Poland’s airspace (No it was not a mistake as Trump said) and appeared to be testing the waters for an incursion.
This is just another ignorant excuse for Trump’s inability to live up to his promise to end the war with one phone call. Now he’s blaming Europe and calling Russia China’s pawn which he probably thinks will provoke Putin to act like a 5 year old and have a tantrum — as he would. I doubt that’s going to happen. Russia and China know what they are dealing with and they realize that he’s a paper tiger.
There are countries that are importing Russian oil, like Trump’s beloved Hungary, using an exemption for landlocked nations. And there are others that are acting as pass throughs. But in general Europe has hugely reduced its dependence on Russian oil, in some cases with the use of alternative energy which we are rapidly decommissioning because Trump doesn’t like the way they look. This is just Trump blackmail so that when they are unable to comply he can say it’s their fault not his.
Maybe Trump could demand that American oil companies donate oil to Europe so they won’t need it from Russia and the war will magically end and he’ll get the Nobel Peace Prize and we’ll put up a giant gold statue of Trump the size of the Colossus of Rhodes. Sound good? Let’s do it!
