Fox News serves up some “Hide yer women!” minor story and it inflates it like an air dancer every election October. Hysteria over the seasonal bugaboo — ebola, migrant caravans, gangs, etc. — provokes legitimate news outlets to cover the Trumped-up stories. Even knowing it’s a right-wing ploy doesn’t stop the mainstream from devoting pixels and ink to it. They take the bait.
As soon as the election is over, the panic dies a swift death, notes Steve Morris of The Recount. What will it be this year? Crime, crime, crime, looks like a likely suspect.
