A drone at the slot machine. Yes, #metoo

Chris Hayes did an entertaining work diary piece for the New York Times which I can relate to on some level. I obviously don’t have anything like the schedule this man has. He’s got three little kids and he’s a TV star and author. But the overwhelming news obsession is very familiar. I was particularly amused by this, which I think says it all about my life too:
7 a.m. Wake up and check Twitter, which feels a bit like walking into the lobby of a Las Vegas casino at 6 a.m. to head to the airport and seeing all the people, dead-eyed, playing the slots: They’ve either been there all night or they woke up and started playing slots first thing in the morning.
I have a recurring thought upon awakening. I think to myself, “maybe the president passed away peacefully in his sleep last night and our nightmare is almost over.”
And then I realize that my husband, who is a very early riser, would have awakened me with the news.
And so I sigh, pick up my tablet and say, “ok, then. What fresh hell awaits?” — and begin the cycle all over again, just like those drones at the slot machines…
